Weekends Suck...

The worst part of every week is hands down the weekend!! Every person knows how true this is when they really sit down and think about it. However, I know some of you may be saying “this is completely wrong, I live for my weekends.”

Let me tell you why weekend are the worst:

1. There’s typically no routine or schedule

2. Most people go to bed way too late and sleep way too long

3. We all the sudden no longer become accountable or responsible for our actions

4. No restraint- it’s a free for all

5. It’s an excuse

When we allow ourselves to get out of control we mess up our body’s routines and then we must learn to readjust back to our weekly routine. This can become a cyclic process with no end in sight. (I must disclose that my main target in this blog is related to nutrition and health) Once again we get back to the question, do people really want to be healthy just during the week or part-time?

So, let’s try to change our mindset about the weekend by changing these few statements:

Instead of:

“I can’t have ________ because I am on a diet”

Say:

“ I will enjoy this _____ in moderation and move on”

Instead of:

“Well, I already ate an unhealthy meal, I will go ahead and have drinks and dessert too”

Say:

“Well, I ate an unhealthy meal, so I will skip the drinks and dessert, so I don’t get out of control”

Instead of:

“It’s the weekend I don’t have to care about health or nutrition”

Say:

“It’s the weekend and that doesn’t change my goals”

So, this weekend and every other weekend, don’t forget your goals and don’t leave your health in the dust. One day can ruin an entire weeks’ worth of work and that is not worth it to me, it makes all your efforts during the week pointless. Be accountable for yourself all the time and take advantage of these tips and tricks to stay accountable:

1. Log all your food on weekends too- If you don’t log during the week only log on weekends

2. Change your attitude about limiting yourself- it’s not reducing your fun, it’s preserving your health

3. Enjoy a meal, or a drink, or a dessert BUT NOT ALL THREE and certainly not all day

4. Don’t skip meals or snacks and try to keep them balanced

5. Try hosting a dinner instead of going out to eat- you can control what you eat at home

6. Have your dinner and a beverage at the beach for a picnic to get out, but not at a restaurant

7. Scour menus for healthy option and don’t be afraid to ask for something on the menu

8. Stick to the plate method!!!
